The religious principle of life and thought or both, of morals (the breath of God), the soul is considered as an essence distinct of the body. This beautiful image suggests me a kind of sensitive soul (Im remembering Aristotles concept). The soul is opened to sensation, to freely enjoy psychic phenomena, to feel abstractly, despoiled of memories, habits, elaborated reasoning.
