Description

Still trying to get the hang of spheres ( i love them ) and i think even a beginning fractalist could have created a better background than this one lol. I thought i would upload it and maybe get a few varying suggestions and opinions.

I like it. The colors are wonderful. The high light is nice. In my opinion, for what it's worth, the dark areas are too dark. I like to see what is in the shaded areas, even if it is just a little. Black, in most cases, is an easy way out of creativity. Again, in my most humble opinion.

The composition works well. Maybe my monitor is lighter than Keith's but I find that the darkness of the background OK. For me the slight edge visible at the bottom left of the sphere ruins the illusion that it is "sitting" on the background. The darkness of the bottom right which blends into the background is much better IMO. But overall very pleasing and quite striking.

IMO the background is perfectly ok! It helps to focus your attention on the creativity of the sphere! It's a great composition to me! Excellent work!

Great swirling colors in the sphere, Kim! I agree with Keith from the standpoint of being able to discern the dark portions. If you can make a plain - point orbit trap - silver ball, you can lay it over with lighten or screen and play with the opacity till you get just a hint of outline. Might make a bigger copy of the hi-lite layer and use that? Mapping circles can be a pain because they always want to be dead center in the image.

The sphere is beautifully lit and coloured, well done :). I like the darker coloured background because it's a great contrast to the sphere. If I had to change anything I'd perhaps make the background slightly lighter in the deep shadow areas and also a little softer. Overall though it's a lovely image and well composed :)
