Description
The upper two images are the Left and Right eye view of a Stereoscopic image. If you allow your eyes to focus past the monitor screen the two images will merge into a new image. The new image will appear to have depth (it is 3-D). The easiest way to see the merged image is get very close to the monitor, so that the left image is infront of your left eye, and the right image is infront of your right eye. There will be a blurry murged image between the left and right images. Move your head away from the monitor slowly to allow the merged image to focus. You'll see the '3D' picture.

the best way to do this is "cross eye: method, in which case, your left, and right images are incorrectly swapped.

I disagree with Jeff. I beleive parallel viewing is easier because the eyes naturally want to focus at a distance when relaxed. Crossing your eyes makes them focus at a nearer target point such as looking at very small objects. But it's all on how you "train" your eyes. For this reason, "stereo artists" should post a L-R-L or R-L-R version so viewers can look at the combination they prefer most.
