Description

Hello. I am shikuri. I made the traditional monster of Japan "guardian dogs" this time. The Japan name is "KOMAINU." "KOMAINU." is put on entrance gates, such as a temple in Japan, by the pair. Usually, it is made of the stone. It is said that the origin of "KOMAINU" was the India lion. However, it became this form as a result of the transfer of people who have not seen a lion. The India lion had already become a new living thing, when a message was repeated through China and Korea and it came to Japan. A central child is the name called "BOKUCHAN." It is my original character. I want to make this "BOKUCHAN" into series from now on using ZBrush. Shikuri

Outstanding! I think you should give them brighter more vibrant colors though. Either way they look great.

Thank you for sharing another wonderful image and also for sharing the background information of the main characters. Do the colors of the two creatures have any significance as well in your culture? I have noticed that in the movies I have seen using creatures like this and similiar others they used these type colorings. War of the Guargantuas is the first that comes to mind, but there were others that I can't remember the names to at the moment. At any rate, I look forward to your series.

Hello, Ron Harris. Are you a well informed person!! I'm sorry. Although I am a Japanese, I am not looking at "War of the Guargantuas." However, the poster has been seen. The title in Japan is "SANNDA vs GAIRA." The color of a pair of lion. I referred to the picture with the same feature of "KARAJISI." . It is the picture of the folding screen of very old Japan. http://www.nittsu.co.jp/supp/1999kouhan/koushitsu/koushitsu_4.htm "KOMAINU" calls it an alias "KARAJISI." The people from Asia have the correction which attaches the meaning of the "shadows and lights" principles to a pair of thing. This is the influence of Tao of the China culture. I think that there is it also in my subconscious.
