Description
Created using Maya 4.5 Personal Learning Edition. This is my first serious attempt at organic modeling.

Good start. Nevertheless I am not sure about the hair either...

this is cool for your first attempt. One suggestion I would give is to shorten his arms, they just look to long, unless ofcourse you are going for a stylised look.

NIce one. I would change a bit the noise on his shirt....maybe it shouldn't have that much contrast.
