Description

Hi Everyone! A project made as an experiment in photorealistic glass. While not entirely accurate, its about as close as I can get tonight. In what is probably going to be a new trend for me, title based of a song title, this one from "Time What is Time" by Blind Guardian. C+C welcome as always Enjoy! Ken

haha this is probably one of the most feared 3D pieces ever made for that guy in the office with a deadline for a 3D scene in 10 minutes :D I dont know where to crit as its very clean but maybe my only suggestion is that the scene is quite bland or empty?

Very nice work.I think the problem is that you have an hourglass in a situation it would not normally be in so its confusing to the eye.If that hour glass was on a table with say a gold pen and something etc then it would just blend in,thats kind if like I mean.Anyway its very nice.

I think the entire model/scene is awesome. The surface it is sitting on is a bit cold (although it does help to illustrate the glass reflections/distortion well)...perhaps something warmer like cloth.

I just did one of these myself, actually, as a part of a tribute to our beloved Dan Davis (you can check my gallery for it). When done correctly, they are a real challenge for sure. Hardest part is to get the sand just right. Ths is a pretty good attempt so far... I think a view this close up needs better detail on the wood, but the modelling and sand is top notch!.

Thanks everyone. I'll see if i can find a good cloth texture. I know it would look better than the tile, but ones that look good are so few and far between. I agree with adding something else for a final render, so I will look around ofr something else to put in there. Nice job on yours LCGuy. The black and white with nice hilights works well for it.
