Description

The gateway from the fearsome Cape Fear River to Historic Downtown Wilmington stands this structure, the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. Built in 1967, it not only aided traffic going in and out of town, it also has created many a story as years pass us by. Not too many of these lift bridges are left in existence, which makes this bridge even more special. It is a signature of Wilmington, North Carolina. I decided to re-texture this after figuring that photo mats are much better off being used instead of DTE textures. I utilized Photoshop to mix the painted metal and rust together, and used the texture editor to customize each mat that was applied to the objects. I also tried a new sky technique, of which I think it turned out pretty well for a first shot. I hope you, along with myself, appreciate this bridge and also enjoy the image! :) Regards, Ian "MadDog31"

Sure is an excellent image. You should make the sky available(hint). The more I look the better it gets. Can I make one suggestion? The leaves in the foreground tree.Be nice if they had a bit more texture. However this is very well done.amgif3.gif

Oh wow! You've had some great images but this is spectacular! The sky is perfect (can you share techniques?). I agree about the foreground leaves but that's just a minor tweak.

One of the best bridge models I've seen so far. You managed to get the sky and water to blend into the image very well so that they don't steal the show but rather help to emphisise the bridge. Nice work! - TJ
