Description

Viewing with north up, at the 11:00 o'clock position on Olympus Mons, you will see a promontory jutting out from the perimeter cliff (escarpment) on the volcano. We are looking at it from due east. Using 3Dem, the profile of the cliff here shows a vertical rise of about 6 miles. It is sobering to realize that Mount Everest in its entirety is only about 5.5 miles high.
