Description


Maes Howe is an ancient burrial tomb on Orkney Island in Scotland. During the Viking reign there, rumors abounded that Maes Howe contained massive riches buried by ancient chieftains. Over the course of a few hundred years Vikings broke into the tomb over, and over, and over again. Of course any riches that might have been there were long gone, and all that welcomed the ancient treasure hunters was graffiti left by the previous group of explorers. (real graffiti too, some quite bawdy!) As a result the graffiti accumulated over a few hundred years of treasure hunting today amounts to the densest amount of Viking runes to be found outside of Scandinavia.
