Description

This shot was also taken at Tatton Park, Manchester on the CANON 10D. It is an experimental process for me as I took two shots, one exposed for the sky and the other for the ground and then sandwiched the two together. The result is for a far more dramatic effect but personally I'm not 100% sure about it. I wonder what other people thing? OTT? Comments welcome!

It's certainly dramatic..I think it works well..IMHO could maybe do to darken some of the land/water as well, to create a greater range on the land, to match the sky. If this is the weather in Manchester, please keep it, we've got blue skies and sun over in Hull:)

Chunky, I think it's very dramatic and eye-catching ...I do agree with David somewhat re' darkening the land/water just a bit ...but what an interesting way of doing things! Hope you have a terrific time with the 10D, it's a superb camera ...what lenses are you marrying with it? Regards Mark

The CANON 10D is indeed the Dogs' Tadger! At present I have the usual standard 50mm, the EF 28-135 IS lens and a 20mm to get a reasonable wide angle. The shot above was the wider end of the 28-135 which is the equiv of 44mm.

Very ominous clouds, I like the way you worked it. As a small critique I like to mention the fuziness on the treeline where it meets the sky. I maybe the compression (if so I didn't mention it :) ), but otherwise you might try to clean that up a bit. Don't use the smudge tool for that.

I use the same technics as you do with a trip. Or just slightly underexpose and work the same image in 2 layers one lighter and one a bit darker with curves on the sky. Excellent mood. I have a G2, you got my dreamcam ;)

pretty dramatic- agree with the slightly darker land & water for an even more ominous look, but it still looks pretty great :]

I absolutely disagree with darkening the land, the contrast is brilliant. The water may be a shade light, but I have seen just such an effect myself. This is a stunner. Cheers
