Description

I've been working on this one for days now and I finally feel it's ready. The idea for this image came during a (very inspiratitional) depression. The tunnel was modelled and rendered in bryce. The 4 channel limit of the bryce DTE was not enough to get every texture perfect, so some textures where made in PSP and are based on photo's and seperate renders of DTE-textures. The lightwrap effect was done with a volume texture. There's 60 radials in the tunnel to produce a realistic lighting. The person in front of the tunnel was lighted using a texture based on Adamite's x-ray material and the X-ray sky. The result was then heavily tweaked in PSP to create the right falloff and brightness. The total rendertime of the final renders was somewhere around 3 or 3.5 days. Well, that's enough for the tech bit. I hope you enjoy looking at this image. As always all C&C is welcome. More images will follow as soon as they finished rendering.

Wonderful Image... Sorry to hear it was depression induced :( I love the backlight.

Depressions can help you find yourself. I think it's had a good influence in the end. At least for my artwork.

This is very good!! The textures, especially on the floor, are excellent. And the lighting also.

Ahh, but they never really come back these days... Cool image, it's cold and crisp and really dark, despite all the light in the scene!

Well done. I have a question for masters like yourself who do soo well at complex images. If they take 3 days to render, how to you test them during the construction phase to know what the finished effect will be? I usually have to resort to simple lighting in order to achieve an idea of what I am doing and end up accepting it. You not only have great patience but a keen and creative eye for this art. Excellent job.

"There's 60 radials in the tunnel to produce a realistic lighting. " I would have to say this did the trcik, and perfect I might add. "The total rendertime of the final renders was somewhere around 3 or 3.5 days." I know the feeling, and I give a comforting sympathy pat.

I like the way the figure is disappearing into the light. The matts are also excellent.

That's the power of rendering in layers Gog. Most of the time was actually spend on AA.

Agree with everything said before me but how you guys can produce an image like this one in just a few days is beyond me. So simple yet so complicated, so atmospheric, so passionate. The words are superfluous, the attitude of the man, the stance, the right hand say it all. This picture alone tells tells your story,Rayraz. Congratulations on a beautiful image. Dennisld

A very touching work, done perfectly. The text is a little bit hard to read because of the unusual font... Anyway - a 10++!

Jasonmit, when I'm at your age there'll probably be realtime raytracing systems, so by then I'll be making bryce machinima's :)

oh my! This is one of the best scenes I've ever seen! the POV, the colors, the light and the writing, all give it such a strong emotional impact. Tears my heart apart. Excellent work from every aspect.
