Description

One of my last images in my series of little creatures, being the honey bee queen (not the yellow colored worker bee) which also has a stinger. The queen was point modeled and textured using procedural shaders and the wings and arm are image based textures. Plugins used were Translucency Pro 1.1 for sub surface scattering and Hair Dep. plugin used for the hair. I made a motion blur effect on the wings first, but I opted for this version as I wanted to show the wing texture. As for a backround, I opted for total darkness to enhance the contrasts of the hair and to give it a slight illustrative quality. Thanks for viewing!

Good stuff. My only criticism is that the wings look upside down.

My only criticism is that the wings should be more transparent, and that they look upside down. The rest is awesome! I really love the fluffy look of the bee :) Makes it look really creepy!

The wings are correctly oriented, with the longest wing side downwards, in the scene they are just tilted upwards for takeoff, trust me =) http://www.insectsafari.com/insectid/newimages/bee.jpg
