This is a great picture, I was reminded immediately of Jim Burns and Fred Gambino. There's something around the eyes, some kind of reflective effect, is that deliberate?

Not really, in the postwork I always tend to soften the image away from the face, this might be what your seeing. Glad you like it anyway!
