Description
The poet Basho, during his pilgrimage to Tohoku in 1684, stopped at a grassy field on a moonlit night. It had many years before been the scene of a major battle between rival clans. The large banners carried by the military forces had long since disappeared, but their memory as well as their dreams had permeated the landscape.
Ah! Summer grasses,
All that remains
Of the warriors' dreams. - Basho

I've always had a soft spot for asiatic art, in particularly Japanese works, since I lived for a short while in Tokyo. Very nice piece Gordon. Hats off!
