Description
Finally received my copy of Lightwave in the mail a couple of weeks ago. After a few hiccups its finally going.Thanks to some of the forum members for thir help.Couldn't really find an Earth specific tutorial for Lw so I winged it.Any hints or suggestions appreciated, still a long way to go....

well first, that halo is WAY too bright. Use a volumetric point light inside the planet with it's radius set to just brim across the outer edge (get used to using viper). OH yeah, also, despite all the movies, you can't see the stars from space. Your cirrus cloud layer is bloody great though, I'd love to know where you got that from

I agree, you wouldn't be able to see the stars at all with that bright full Earth taking up half the sky. Still, nicely done!

bugger reality, the stars are needed! halo is a wee bit bright,how did you do your clouds? nice image!

Freakmoomin@ Cloud layer from blue marble in the luminosity channel then add realfresnel shader.

very nice planetary image! I appreciate your use of Australia rather than the North American or African continents that appear in so many Earth from orbit images.
