"This group is the same as the all the others." Corporal Myria Ellis glanced up from the midle-aged male's body she was examining. Standing next to her, carrying his huge Howler assault cannon, was Lieutenant Kyle Johnson, her commanding officer. "There's no visible scene of trauma, no injuries, nothing, they're all perfectly healthy." The Corporal's grip tightened on his rifle. "But something killed them..." he replied, glancing around the exterior of the colony. The distress signal had been garbled, the only clue as to the nature of the signal was the priority frequency it had used. Both Johnson and Ellis were patrolling in a scout ship when they picked up the signal. Standard operating procedure meant that they had to take a look, but upon discovering the exterior of the colony littered with the bodies of the personnel they had reported it to the local Coalition Command Post. Another ship had been dispatched to assist. "Let's try and get their central computer online, see if the logs can tell us anything?" Johnson added. "I don't think we'll find much else out here." Ellis rose to her feet, her rifle rested loosely in her hand. "Shouldn't we wait for back-up from the Venture?" Johnson shook his head. "No, we may miss important information by delaying an investigation, whatever happened here, I think we missed it." Johnson glanced at the bodies and sighed.
