You're better off bathing it in light instead of darkness , what is it a secret or something?

Secret? No... ut it's designed for a 'space' setting, where the lighting is rather dark and dramatic, so the ambience and diffuisions settings are made to be rendered that way. There will also be a lot of smaller accent lights (nav, strobes, instrumentation, etc) that will bring a lot of it out in the final render.
