The tigershark series is a compromise between the ultrafast Stingray Deepspacefighters and the lightly armored Barrccudas being capable of both athmospheric and deepspaceflight. Its heavy armor and its rather small engines make it slow and its manouvering abilities are poor. Many Pilots in the U.P. Federal Starfleet favour this fighter though because in low orbit combat deepspace fighters loose their velocity advantage because they have to cut down the speed due to friction, and thats ,when the heavy armor / heatshieldplating becomes a real plus.
