Description

::: Part 15 of a series of Warbird Photos ::: Taken at the monthly event at the Planes of Fame Museum on Chino Airport, California. This month, it was on "Air War over Korea" (8/2/03) What were you expecting?? This is a beautiful babe! She's a North American P-51D Mustang. Owned by Steve Hinton (world-famous pilot, there is hardly anything he has not flown yet!). 'Wee Willy II' lives at the Planes of Fame Museum in Chino California, and regularly flies at most Planes of Fame Events. She, along with the North American F-86 Sabre, were the stars of the 'Air War over Korea' event that month. This P-51 is made up of parts from the Red Baron P-51 Reno Racer that was crashed some time ago. Steve Hinton owned that aircraft as well. She's by far my favorite P-51 I've seen so far. She looks great on the ground and in the air! Camera is a digital Minolta Dimage 7hi (5 MP). This image has been shrunk down to 33% of the original full size. Manual Focus, custom White Balance.

I've enjoyed your work very much! However - If you think Wee Willy II is the most gorgeous P-51, you haven't seen Moonbeam McSwine! You really ought to come to Michigan and visit the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. I volunteered as a docent there before I had to move from Kalamazoo.

Actually, I've seen her before :-D I've also seen 'Spam Can', 'Six Shooter', 'Val-Halla', 'Ridge Runner', 'Man O War', 'Lady Jo', 'Speedball Alice', 'Miss Judy', 'Straw Boss 2', as well as many others which do not have names.. But out of them all, 'Wee Willy II' seems to strike something with me...
