Description
Well this was my first go at a model using polygons in Maya. I am a counter strike fanatic so I decided to use the desert eagle as my first go.
This is not textured in Maya though. I am not up to speed on the hypergraph yet so I textured it in Bryce 5.
Hope you like it. As I learn more about Maya there is more to come. As you can see it is fully functional. I plan on animating its firing process.
Enjoy :)
EDIT: Changed handel texture and added stamped text.

Wow, Greg- I cannot believe that I am the first to comment on this, your modeling is top notch and I cant wait to see the animation. Your model looks better than any I have seen.

Very well done! Some minor details are not perfectly right, but all in all it is really great. Lets see more. :D Thumbs up!

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah I understand what you mean about minor details. I plan on releasing a new pic soon with more detail on the handle and with embedded text.

What is Mray? I am not familiar with this software?

I have edited this picture to add more detail to the handle and also added text to the slide and barel area.

Mray = Mental Ray, the more high-end renderer included in Maya 5 (and downloadable for Maya 4.5), it's more powerful than Maya's standard renderer and MUCH more powerful than Bryce's (it's integrated for the most part in to Maya) http://www.alias.com/eng/products-services/maya/technical_features/rendering.shtml

I'm sorry, but I simply must hold you responsible for all of the drool on my keyboard... Kidding. But seriously, that is one sweet pistola. I'm a big CS fan myself, and I always go for the Desert Eagle first. It's saved my life on several occasions. And for a first model?! WOW!! My first model was, I believe, a cube....
