My father was trained as a mechanic on the C54 right at the end of the war. I recovered a photo of his that showed his fellows and a fresh C54. It is in my gallery. Those ships helped out in Berlin, but were originally planned to take the 5 to 10 million(plus) soldiers into Japan with 10 to 20 percent planned to be slaughtered along with a larger number of Japanese soldiers. Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved many many lives. My father was grateful that he was not needed. Nice Shots.
