Description
All joking aside, and no offense intended to anyone to whom this statue means something. I think it is a brilliant piece. It is a beautiful statue and if anybody knows a bit about it, feel free to tell me. I would be fascinated to learn about it. Taken at the British Museum.

I've seen similiar pieces in artbooks. It looks like a Bodhisttava Guan Yin, which symbolize kindness, patience and wisdom, and is a Buddhist devotion piece. She is sitting in the typical "royal ease" posture. Usually made of wood and painted..... many are from the 11th and 12th century....do you have any details on this one here? Guess I've rambled, but I find ancient art fascinating.....
