Description

Sucks for the world :). I used the exact same photoshop grayscale map as was created in the landscape tutorial in my quicktime tutorials listing. Added some mist which accidentally gave me a cool lava effect. Created the asteriod using the same techniques as in my comet tutorial. Used Layer of Gas as my background and a red directional light (yes you too can make this!).

I really like it. What's Strata 3D? Expensive, or no?

Strata3D is about the same as the "low cost" modeling software like say bryce and poser. Actual cost from the company.... Retail $595.00 Academic $299.00 There is however a free version which can create everything in that picture except the fire coming out of the comet. That's avaliable at 3d.com.

Freaky! I'm wondering how one could add a shockwave of particles in front of the meteor... you know, some kind of rounded dome shape... humm...
