Description
I was doing a light and shadow Study inspired by another work from David Ho. This time I used a few tips I gleaned from a tutorial I saw around here a few weeks ago. Trying to get the skin to look less like plastic and more like flesh. If anyone has any other pointers or can link me to a good tutorial to that end I'd appriceate it.
The wall is a digital photo i took of a concrete wall in my neighborhood im pretty happy with how it turned out.

The light and shadow works very fine. I admit. I can see all the basck muscles and bones and their shadows, clean work. The skin seems too dry. ;) if not too plastic but I am not complaining on that, just letting you know what I see. The wall looks awesome. Would love to have it if you have it uploaded somewhere and would advise you to use more of your digi cam for our benefit. ;). Overall an inspiring work. I am very Impressed. :) and wish one I would also do something like that. :):)

Good to see you posting, Chewy, I think this render is awesome...! Very dark and creepy, has almost an insane style to it...

Excellent. One thing I discovered on my own for skin.(havent put it to use much ) I take a .tif from Poser textures. in runtime and outline the images in it then clone a real skin texture from a photo onto it.I do this on the front and back section. Then carefully outline parts of the face with the same texture. If you have a good balance with color... shading it a bit darker to the edges of the body it can look pretty real.Your skin here looks good though.A vote

Awesome work. Love the way the shadows fall over the figure. Not a crack but it reminds me either of a TOOL video or the video for unforgiven by Metallica.

I like the image very much and would love to see it bigger the compression on this size image does not give a good indicator of the quality of the light. Here are my suggestions. Tone down the lighting on the head this can be done without affecting the other parts of the body by lighting the head only with another spot but giving it negative lighting attributes. If you haven't tried negative lighting experiment a little with the numbers. There is a great book on the subject of texturing and lighting for 3d in a titled "Building a Digital Human" by Ken Brilliant. Keep up the great work.

You're right to be satisfied with it. Personally, I like the shadows you achieved, a very mysterious effect. I can't be of any help about human skin, tho.
