Looks alot like an old Roman Gladius. The blade looks great but the rest needs a better texture.. Maybe make the hilt just below the blade and the end of the handle gold, then give the inbetween a woodgrain or black leathery texture? Just to go overboard, you could add a gem to cap the end of the handle.

In agreement with EvilDead, you do need to texture the hilt assembly better, it would really make the sword pop. I do not agree that the blade looks that good though, it looks verry close to a more crystal like blade. Purly on a fantasy level that would work, but if your after realism, try rewoking the blade so it looks more metalic. perhaps even give it a texture of knicks along the edge of the blade to make it appear to have been put to use.
