I did this today after reading a tutorial on making realistic (?) surf....it worked out ok I guess...the ship I made in Rhino 1.1 years ago and the glow on the sun I did with a lens effect in 3D Max 5...the rest is Bryce 5....

This is a good attempt at a breaking wave. I would only suggest that you try to make it look a bit more chaotic or random. This looks a bit to much like a cylinder with a water texture.

I did this before..the wave in the background is not the subject..the surf in question is breaking around the rock in the foreground..that took some doing with several boolean negatives and ripples plugin with off center x,y,z plains...

I have since tried to improve on the breaking and surging surf around the foreground island but havn't managed it yet...darn..I guess I was lucky to get the original...hmmm....

Congrats on tackling a tough subject. I have tried this painting terrains and importing them into the terrain editor without much luck.
