I've been a 3d "hobby artist" on and off since sometime around 2000 or so. I've never stuck with it long enough to get good or to learn any advanced techniques, but when I do "play around" I have fun.
I also started messing around with vector drawing, as I can't really draw. Using vector allows me to utilize shape deformation and tweaking to create my scenes.
As of right now, July 2018, I'm working hard toward a goal I've had for a decade plus, and that is to make physical card, dice and board games for adults as well as animations and some simple video games. To that end, I'm developing my own characters in vector. The style is simplistic but I believe it will be really good once I have several items completed.

Creepy place to die, though I guess there isn't any good place. Very well done scene.

This is a great scene -- I love the detail in the foliage... And there's a roughness to the render that gives it a painterly quality; very cool, indeed. My only nit-pick is that, historically, engravers would NEVER have used all capitals in the Old-English font you've used for the name on the headstone. That's a very recent development in letterform. It tends to make an engraving difficult to read with that particular font. Take the comment for what it's worth; this is still a very cool image, regardless....

Good job, Eryk. It looks as though it wasn't completely anti-aliased, but I really like the appearance of the grass in this-- as AzChip said, it gives it that painting-like quality. Great scene, and I love the way the ground fog turned out too. :)

dragonfly2000, thanks. I'm glad you like it. I agree it is a creepy place to die..but somehow relaxing to me as well. AzChip, I appreciate the info about the fonts. I never knew that. I can easily make a new bump map for the grave, and get it right. :) Mike, I have a question for you (you have been very helpful over the last couple days..thanks..) Anyhow, I did a final render on it, not a broadcast or ultra. If I had, do you think it would have anti-aliased the text better? Or is it blocky due to the text I used as a bump map? The ground fog was fun to play with. Its amazing how the slightest tweak on atmospherics can change an entire look of a scene. ( Don't mind my joy at such small things..this all being new to me is very exciting. Sad, huh?? :) ) Thanks for all your input everyone. Happy rendering.. Eryk

Hi Eryk! I won't comment on the image itself this time, but the bytes. Did you realize this image is nearly 1 meg to download and view? That's a lot for people on dial-ups and/or paying by the minute. An image of these dimensions really shouldn't be more than 200K in bytes. If you are saving in JPG from Vue, turn down the quality level to increase the compression and obtain a less-weighty image. Better yet, if you're converting to JPG in a paint program, check that program's options for a tighter compression. (If you need more help, just ask in the forum.) :)

Varian, I did see the file size, but did not take into consideration people on dial ups. ( I have had a cable modem for years now and..well...its easy to forget the internet impaired) :) Sorry about the size. I will change the compression on future images. Thanks for pointing that out. -Eryk
