I like when textured object and mesh are mixed; it has always a kind of futuristic and high-tech look !

the detail is nice, but the grip is flat.. and that bugs me

good attention to detail on this one, it reminds me of the fantasy swords offered in the Kit Rae style. I agree with Garett, the handle is flat in appearence, which detracts from the over all appeal ot th rest of the detailed arcitecture you have. It makes it seem almost as an after though.
