Description

This was an experiment in lighting. I used 9 conic spots in a 3x3 grid, with the center slightly stronger and using volume visible infinite. I also used a single radial near the ceiling at very low (2 I believe) to give a slight fill I had a very wide up conic on the floor (also low)to try to bring in a bit of a radiosity effect. I think it might have neede a slightly higher setting though. Outside is a 2d face set back from the window with a square parallel to illuminate. Just liked the feeling of it so here it is. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking.

Well your welcome, thanks for posting it! I think the lighting is awesome here, I don't know how or why you were trying to get radiosity since there aren't any colors really, but who cares? The image turned out GREAT!

Beautifully done--the lighting is great. It's hard to get a volume light to look just right, but I think you've accomplished it very well! Most excellent!

maybe the mug is a bit large, but it's far outweighed by the beauty and technique of the scene. great job!

Awesome image Were the spots evenly spaced and at the same angle?

Yes, both in angle and position. The ends were quite closely positioned. I wanted to try and simulate the scattering through several glass layers without using several glass layers. No premium render settings were employed.

You made an excellent work with lights; love them, just like those soft sunrays. Simple, but very elegant compostion. Gets a Vote.

I agree completely with sbleci: it's simple and extremely classy image. And thanks for the explanation of the light, multiple spots can give fantastic results.
