Description

I took this picture at my family country house. When I took it I didn't know what kind of spider it was and I was a little affraid of it. But then I searched on the net and it turns out to be a garden spider and it isn't very dangerous. It can bite you but it won't do a lot of harm. I took it with an Olympus C4000Z digital camera using the supermacro mode. It was a little hard to take because I thought that at any moment the spider would jump and bite me. I hope you like it.

I have seen several macros of spiders and other insects. Few have been as clear as this one. It's rare that the whole bug is in focus which means that your choice of DOF was spot on. Very nice work.

Thanks for your comments to all of you. Mohawkeman, that's good to know, I guess I'll risk it a bit more when taking pictures of spiders and other bugs. By the way, I saw your gallery, great stuff. JoeDoe, I played around with the controls, I took several pictures of this spider, and this is one of the best 3 I guess. Please visit my gallery here to see other pictures... thanks!

Don't blame ya one bit...I'd be a little aprehensive too with all those wild colors, but then the brown recluse doesn't look very menacing and packs a whallop!!

I've caught a lot of spiders on camera, down in Australia, but that european kind looks much more exciting. Great work. You've got an eye for the "little people" in nature ;o) Keep it!
