Description

Type 77 Strike Corvettes of the Terran 781st Confederacy Assault Squadron engaged in a surprise attack on the Imperial held world of Lysistrata. Occupied since 2954, this former Confederation territory has served as an important maintenance station for Imperial operations in the sector, and as such was considered a prime strategic target for Confederate forces. Currently under pressure in the Comae Dominions, Confederation detachments made a feint thrust towards the Imperial Provincial Capital Liuvienu, seeking to draw enemy fleet elements away from Lysistrata and thereby reduce the system's defences. As a result, the 781st were able to penetrate the system in a swift manouevre in order to destroy the maintenance yards on Sedistra, Lysistrata's moon. This image shows the moment when the orbital dock - offering fierce resistance - was destroyed. On the moon's surface can be seen the glowing remnants of the surface factories, annihilated seconds before. Gmax, Lunarcell, Corel Photo-paint 8.
