Description

Hey folks! im extremley excited to post this image, i have been working on it for the past week. Another Lord of the Rings inspired image, but this time i really pulled out my hair trying to make it look perfect. despite a few small bugs here and there, im pretty satisifed with the image. The Orthanc model is not in its full detail here, because its so far away, but i tried to put more detail in the surrounding fortress, especeailly on the ground texture. A few specs: The image is created in bryce, except for the smoke billowing out of the ground, and the trees in the foreground, which were added in Photoshop. The render was made in 1 layer, except for small spheres of smoke which were rendered seperatly to save time on the already 6 hour render. some postwork in photoshop (besides smoke and trees) was lighting and color. This picture is dedicated to J.R.R Tolkien, one of the greatest writers of our time. His works have the ability to dig deep inside of you and pull out the imagination and pure child, Tolkien, his books, and his life have been an incredible influence on my works, and my life. I hope everyone can have someone to look up to like this. Tolkien died today (november 2nd) 30 years ago. thanks and everyone have a nice evening!

A lovely piece of work, excellent smoke and I like the texture on the valley floor. Strange how different people intepret the story differently, my vision of Isenguard is quite different to that portrayed by yourself or as shown in the film, I felt that the bowl of isengard was more natural in mountains, requiring less length of man made wall
