Description
This was my entry to the August '03 Rhino Forum Modelling Challenge, an off-road skateboard (or mountainboard). For those of you who don't know about the sport it's sort of a cross between snowboarding and skateboarding (but it's on mountainbike trails, instead of snow-covered slopes).
My version has a fully independent four-wheel suspension, precision ball-bearing axles, true "mag" wheels (made of magnesium--for strength and lightness), and a carbon-fiber monocoque deck. This board is aimed at the very high-end of the market.
The model was re-constructed with an eye toward practical manufacturability using some stock-type parts (e.g. the more standard sealed bearings instead of custom ones). I did not have a chancee to redesign the axle nuts (was going to go for a single ny-lock), so I just left the super-spiffy locking spanner nut/washer combo I had originally (besides, it seemed like a waste to throw it away after all the work I had put into it).
I had intended to design a whole line of these boards for the challenge (well...three anyway), ranging from entry-level (basically just a normal skateboard with beefed-up trucks and big wheels) all the way up to this top-of-the-line model. And I was intending to get a really cool render for this board (with scraped-up decals and such--I actually have most of the decals done already, just never got them put on). Well, as they say "the best laid plans..."
Hope you like it, thanks for reading this whole thing, and keep your eyes peeled in the forum for updates to this project.

Hope you'll make the new render as mentioned. The board needs better material - as with this plastic like red it looses detail next to your more complex smaller parts.

The amount of details is really amazing
