Description

This image was my commentary on the 9th Circuit Court's ruling that "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. Justice is no longer blind; she has no hair. Her clothes are shabby. There's a pile of dung in the scales. The ground is barren; the sky dreary. The woman in the front is thumbing her nose at Justice. All standard Poser and Bryce. Comments in other languages welcome.

This is a hot topic, with many fierce opinions on both sides. But, I, for one, agree with you. Every person who ever committed a crime in the USA deliberately disregarded one or more of the Ten Commandments in the process. Throw those out and we might just as well tear down all the prisons. Yet our "justice" system is so addicted to making up new laws and legal theories that they no longer want to be reminded of the ultimate foundation of all Western legal systems. Sad but predictable.

Thanks for your comment, Darcy! You made my day. One of the functions of art is to make a statement on political and religious questions. I made mine here. I have been following the Judge Moore case rather closely, and I have to say it is probably one of the most egregious examples of raw judicial power being used to destroy a person I have seen in this country in a long time. Perhaps it's time for another image!

The image is the embodiment of the feelings of a majority of the people in this country. You captured it perfectly. It used to be that I would never comment on 'political' art, however with all that the federal judges have done over the past half century, I (and many others) have just about had enough. Thank you my friend for your image.

Pledging allegiance to a piece of clothes is a weird enough thing to do. Doing it "under god" was plain backward. Middle ages are over.

I sort of agree with you, and this is far from a godly nation. However, the principle that some high and mighty judge can order us (or a schoolchild, for that matter) not to say the Pledge if we feel like it is unacceptable. That's what I am objecting to.
