Description
An old timer who'd worked all his life in the woods passed away here a couple of years ago. In the old days, before diesel power,he'd been a high rigger, These were men who climbed the biggest tree in an area, limbing them as they went, then bucking off the top (with an axe, yet) and installing the rigging for the steam donkeys to winch the logs into the landing. If they were up a tree at lunchtime, they pulled their lunch up and ate where they were. His wife got a local chainsaw carver to do this carving of him, and they put it on a pole behind his favorite cafe in town. Here he sits, axe and sling hanging from his belt, eating his lunch in peace looking out over the water. A neat tribute to a tough breed of man. Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

reminds me of my grandfather who in his youth used to be a telephone lineman. he'd sit on the top of telephone poles during his lunchbreak and had a picture much like this one of him hanging up downstairs. Fantastic story and great tribute!
