Description
This is a digital photo of a river here in Olympia, WA. The cement things are hurdles for salmon to jump over so they can make it to the fish hatchery ok.
As defined in the Random House Dictionary: "Materialism 1. the philisophical theory that regards matter and its motions as constituting the universe, and all phenomena, including those of mind, as due to material agencies. 2. emphasisis on material objects and needs, with a disintereset in spiritual values."

Unfortuately, most spawning creeks, and especially urban ones, need the fishway/hatchery help to remain viable, and even that is no guarantee against human's natural avarice and stupidity. That off my chest, nice photo, the title's a grabber and the explanation really fits. Well done. Also thanks for the rant opppotunity.
