Description

::: Part 20 of a series of Warbird Photos ::: Taken at the Planes of Fame Museum on Chino Airport, California at the 'British Airpower' Event. (8/6/03) This aircraft is the North American P-51D Mustang 'Spam Can' (I took a break from Wee Willy II). This P-51 is in a Iwo Jima paint scheme and is a REAL war-time Mustang. The winner of the member raffle (held each month at the event for all members) got to ride in the second seat of the Mustang. Wha? You say! Well, in WW2 the radio equipment was MASSIVE! It took up that huge area behind the pilot's seat. Now-a-days, a radio can be the size of a car sterio. So, this freed up a lot of room, and made the area for a second seat available. Camera is a digital Minolta Dimage 7hi (5 MP). This image has been shrunk down to 33% of the original full size. Manual Focus, custom White Balance, Priority to Shutter mode.

I've always been a big fan of the P-51...must be the curves :) Great shot, really like the motion blur on the prop.
