Description

This is another version of the fire that I had already posted under "Beautiful Disaster." This image consists of three pictures pasted together. At this point the fire was only hours from razing 250 homes. The people fighting the fire saved thousands of houses. I want to pay tribute the heavy machinery workers who have had almost zero adulation for their efforts. They deserve it. Thanks for saving one of the most beautiful cities in the world. If you visit you will agree.

Weird format, very solid and crisp colors. They define the picture as a whole.

The contrasting halves of this image really make a powerful impression. It gives you a good idea of what those men have saved your city from and of how beautiful a place it is. As always, outstanding job capturing the moment and pasting the pics together.

wow awesome image...I have survived a firestorm myself, there is nothing that matches the sight of the breathing monster....forest fires are in the nature of dragons...

The shot shows a great contrast between something that people built for years, and the power which can destroy it in a second...I'm impressed.

powerful image from the thick, rancid smoke in contrast to the fruit tree in the foreground! in times of crisis, those silent heros need a hug too :]

I've been to Kelowna many times and I can say , without a doubt, it is definitely one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A tragic loss for the people who lost, not just their houses, but their homes. I've also operated heavy equipment for 10 years and know how tiring a job it can be. A frightening shot Matt. Indeed a powerful shot. Excellent and a definite vote.

That IS very beautiful, I want to go there! Where is it? That fire contrasts amazingly with the green of the landscape. Wonderful shot.
