Description
First and foremost, I want to dedicate this post to the victims and survivors of 9/11 and their family members.
These are two photos I took from the Ellis Island Ferry in 1992. At the time, I was playing with a blue sky filter on my Minolta Maxxum 7000i. The day was incredibly dark and overcast, giving the natural sepia tone you see. In the top picture, I wanted a pretty blue sky, contrasting against the gray water, but for the bottom picture, I flipped the filter over to reverse that contrast. In retrospect, the perversely ominous sky of the second photo seems like an unbelievable harbinger of things to come.
As usual, I have not doctored the photos at all. The only PSP work was resizing and grouping into one image. In fact, I almost feel as though I should apologize for the minor scratches, since I scanned these from prints and didn't retouch them. However, it seemed to me that the deterioration of the prints added something to the overall feel of the composition, and that there is nothing anyone can ever do to "fix up" any image of the WTC at this point in time - that concept is now null and void.
I hope you appreciated this post, and that noone was disproportionately disturbed by this image. Thank you for viewing, and all comments are welcome.
