Description
Saraswati
Creativity Personified, She is the Shakti (Consort) of Brahma, the Creator.
She is the Patron of all creative artists, and of musicians in particular.
Enthroned on Purity (the lotus) She dwells where the Waters of Inspiration spring from the Sacred Mountain in the heart of the Himalayas.
She plays the Veena (South Indian Lute - "mother" of the North Indian Sitar).
The hands playing the Veena represent Talent and Dedication. Her other hands offer Knowledge (the scroll) and Wisdom (the pearls). She is accompanied by Beauty (the peacock) and Grace (the swan).

What a lot of work went into this one. I really like the way you held to the traditional aspects of the subject. Really nice job! :)

Love this image.......! The swan is a great addition and so lovely....and the pecock....well set up.....but the girls arms are a bit to close ...maybe down under the top ones....just a thought.....the image is so beautiful.....!

I see what you mean about the arms, but I based the arm positions & pose on a traditional painted Icon from India that I have. This is the way they are normally shown, not vertically separate. The idea is not to be anatomically "accurate" with multiple arms, but to show that unlike ordinary humans, She has the ability to do many things at once, it's really a matter of symbolism. In any case, thanks for your comment. The peacock is by Anton, whose stuff is available at bbay. It's something he put up in freestuff a long time ago, on another site.
