I've always liked SF like Cherryh's Chanur or Lisanne Norman's Sholan Alliance series that used feline races. Hey, I like sholan alliance is pretty good, hey, you should try reading "Forest of the Night" by S. Andrew Swann. Super cool fur pic! Gotta get the texture....
