Excellent image. Love the way you have the subject off centre. Terrific amount of detail and atmosphere.

Knock-out! My onluy suggestion comes accidentally from the slow unfolding of the picture as it scrolled down the screen: I think the composition looked even better with the bottom 5mm of the image cropped off - not that there's anything wrong with the water, it just shifts the horizon line that bit further away from the mid-point and IMHO helps the balance. Gets my vote anyway - excellent work.

most excellent...however...the frigate that is bow on to the viewer has no lines holding her to dock.. very nice look to this .. cheers PE

Maybe place a small boat with crew and officer in it rowing toward the ships. This would give some weight to the bottom of the picture. And maybe one more ship on the horizon, very small, beginning her voyage from home, with some sails set and catching the first offshore winds. Look at some of the bookcovers of the Patrick O'Brian and Alexander Kent seafaring novels. There are a couple of covers that are similar to this image that might give ideas. Also, bring out the setting sun just a little more, not a lot, but it would offset the weight that the ships have on the left.
