This illustrates just how much a difference the sun can make. Both the exact same except sun is in fron on one and behind on other.

So true! Like I wrote once in the forum, I often spend more time working on sun positions then finding a spot. Note that you can also have dramatic difference if you start adding point lights. Notice also that a frontal sun shows better the depth but looses details. Thanks for sharing this educative render.

Nice example of the fact that we need a Radiosity option for the renderer no matter how much time it takes.
