Description
Sometimes the beauty and value of a plant is more determined by how it comes to your garden.......
This is one of my favorite plants, both for the story of it's aquisition and it's beauty....Set off in the very late, very end of the season clearance pile at a local nursery, we (my son and I), were entreated to a wonderfully compelling description of the plants virtues by the weathered nurseryman who came over to help us as we considered our purchases carefully.....He spoke of her varigated leaves whose graceful form and range of greens and whites would be a bright counterpoint to the solid green leaves of surrounding plants. He spoke of her gentle tenacity in clinging to near any surface without damaging even the most neglected stucco or rockeries ...he said that while small and somewhat inconsequential, her flowers were a true white and quite clean smelling, most refreshing in the late August heat. And then he grew even more passionate as he described the berries that would delight us in September and stay throughout the fall...and would explain the common name of this plant he so clearly wanted to find a home for...
And he was exactly right.

Beautiful plant, and an excellent choice. Thank your lucky stars that guy wasn't selling vacuum cleaners, or investment plans, who knows what he might have sold you.

Even though this is a great shot of the beautiful leaves and berries, the berries have a sheen to them that is impossible to capture. I've tried tossing them on my scanner (since I don't have a good camera) and still can't get the beauty. You've done a great job, but the real colors are elusive as the sheen of butterfly wings.
