Description

This piece, inspired by the series The Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony. According to the author, Death rides a pale horse named Mortis, who also turns into a pale coloured Sedan. Death is an office and is held by a person who is able to catch Thanatos with his hood down, which renders him vulnerable to human attack. If they kill him, they automatically assume the office and are condemned to reaping the souls of people who are perfectly in balance of Good and Evil. This is a first in a series of 8, which will consist of: Thanatos, Chronos, Fate, Mars, Gaea, Satan, God and Nox. I know it is not an original idea, but I thought I would do my interpretation of the books. P.S. I am aware that the hands are human instead of skeletal. I know that this throws off the effect of the picture, but I wanted to show that the man in the picture was at least in part, a mortal.

I've read a lot of his books. Very good. Your picture is wonderful. With the hands being human to me it makes the face look like a mask. Very much like I'd imagined for his books. He is one of my favorite authors. Terry Prattchett is another of my favs for fantasy. I enjoyed seeing this pic. Keep up the wonderful work.

Having read that series from cover to cover more times then I can count. I am very impressed with your redition of the office of Death and its current officeholder. Beautiful work can't wait to see the rest. Off to go read the series again back in eight days.

Jherrith, I agree. Now I have go read them for the X,000th time. I never tire of those stories. Great interpretation. I agree that I also like the human hands in the render. Are you also considering Luna and some of the other characters?

Fantastic work! Pose and composition are perfect, and the draping on the cloth is incredible. The horse looks great, a little small but that's the only thing I can find, and even then it's so trifling it doesn't matter! Piers Anthony has been one of my favourite authors since childhood and I think he'd be suitably impressed if he saw this. Congratulations indeed on this great piece of work, I can't wait to see more :-)
