Description

Another break into the 2d world for me :) I had a heck of time with the center of interest wave getting the size right and still not sure whether its too much in the center or not. Also the large rockwall is very square and contrasts the rest of the image with the curves and I wondered if it wouldnt have looked better. At least at the top, with more of a curve. Digitally painted in photoshop 7 with my wacom. Any opinions or comments are welcome.

the waves have a great power but what I like the most are the rocks. Overhall there's a great flavour in this piece. Compliments.

Oh yeah. I dig it. Don't be hard on your self. I really like this and the sense of motion it has - which is usually had to convey. Looks good!

Agreed. A work of art. The surf in front of the big wave, breaking around the rock, is perfection. The values are right in the wave, also; and they are hard to get right. I think what is bothering you with the big wave might be the top line--perhaps a subtle curve down to the breaker would be effective? The line along the top is a little bit square.

i think this is a very nice piece actually .. very impressed with how you achieved the waves and you did a very nice job on the rocks.. i do see a few things that I would take notice to though.. the white shape behind the brown rock wall seems to be the same shape as the rock which in turn tells me that it is an iceberg or something.. is this what you had in mind?.. i also think that this needs another element.. maybe a few sea gulls or a faint hint of a ship along the horizon.. with the added element I really think this would be an excellent piece of work for it will break up the large portion of white space along the top to create a bit of contrast for a better composition.. just a few suggestions but overall i think this is a really cool piece of work.. nice job :)

Nice work indeed Tammy! I think, apart from what has already been said, that the image could do with something 'closing off' the left bottom corner as the image seems to fall off the edge, drawing the eye to one point. This is an EXCELLENT image on its own though, without the modifications ;) Thank you so much for sharing :D

I'd agree with the suggestions already made. You were right to keep the rocks square, this compliments the curves adding a nice dynamic to the composition. Maybe a little sharper contrast on the large wave would help to draw the eye to the focal point. This is beautifully painted, great work!

Love it ! You present an excellent style here. A few seagulls would be a nice idea indeed, but I like it already as it is.

Wow! Water must be some of the hardest things to draw so it look real but somehow you managed. Very impressive work!

This reminds me so much of a place called The Burren in Ireland - where huge blocks of rock that look like giant building blocks reach down to the sea. The contrast of the harsh lines of the rocks, and the harsh colours with the swirling blues and greens of the waves is very much like that in your painting - and I love it.

Water is always very hard to do for me... you've done a fantastic job of it! And the clouds... I like those a lot.

You have a wonderful style on this! You've captured movement so perfectly. What I really love is that with all the action of the waves there is still a very calm sense to the scene.
