Description

A tribute to my ancesters who were forced off their land in the 18th to 19th century in Scotland, and forced to sail the oceans to build new lives in foreign lands. I hope folks like it.

"We stood with heads bowed in prayer while factors laid our cottages bare the flames fired the clear mountain air and many were dead by the morning..." - Alisdair McDonald, Hush Hush. I learned of your history through the ballads of Alisdair McDonald. Was intrigued by the songs, and learned more. I am from the USA but I have tears for Scotland when I think of all they have endured. What horrible times were these. Everything that is patriot in me is roused by your history, everything in me that hates tyrrany and injustice is brought forth by the horrible acts suffered by the brave ladies and men of Scotland. Were I there, I would have stood with your countrymen in defiance of tyrrany. Blessings to you!

Flames look so real!Like the swirl in water.Have a question about the fire glow on this side of the trunk(brass).Unless there is flames behind her. However the tribute is well deserving of an excellent!

there's a line from bob dylan,"when all that you hold sacred falls down and will not mend, just remember that death is not the end" Our ancesters must have felt it was the end, your image, especially the womans posture shows brilliantly the courage and fortitude that these people must have shown, even although they must have felt there was nowhere else for them to go. wonderful piece of work.

Nicely done, Catlin. The sky fits the scene very well. The sheep look awfully calm though! :) Excellent!

Beautifully done, Catlin. I'm sorry I'm not so present in the galleries lately, but I'm glad I've found this one linked in the B-Lobby, because it's really cool. Excellent work.

A brave image yet sad. Really beautifully expressed. I love the idea of the sheep in contrast to the violent fires next to it. Way to go!
