Hi Heart'Song, OK, a short description of "Manatees". The Manatees are my own, I have them from my Animal Kingdom CD of Dedicated Digital. http://www.dedicateddigital.com/content/animalkingdom.htm The anchor and the bubbles are from Mitch 3D Seite, maybe THE artist for underwaterscenes. http://www.mitch3dseite.de The anemones are free stuff of e-onsoftware, the publisher of Vue. The rest are dry bushes and some tetra-fishes in the background. The anchor got a rusty texture of my privat collection and a hard bumpmap. Vue dont support volumetric light, but its possible to fake it. If you have a handbook of Vue 3.1 you can find a tutorial on page 201. I used the cylinder direct in front of the camera and rotated him a little bit diagonal. To get a caustic effect you can use this tutorial: http://www.chez.com/jrlivenais/vdesprit/tut_index/caustic/caustic_eng.htm For my picture I used a default water and rough bumps. The transparency is variable. The rest like in the tutorial above. The sky is hot summer day. The fog is 587 thick, altidue thickness 0,60, altidue 27,5, haze 402, fog and haze color r=40 g=128 g= 132. I also used six lights, all of them with the color r=219 g=168 g=100 and a softness of 10. This looks a little bit pastel shaded brown. The pointlight in front is green with r=27 g=136 g=104. The bubbles got the unpure glass texture. The sand texture of the terrains got a soft filter for color and bumpmap with x,y,z=0,400, scale 0,50. The background terrains and the small on the left side the desert2 texture. It`s my first underwater picture with Vue and I think there are a lot of ways to make it better, but this was my way for the first one ... .

I think it's excellent! I live in Florida, near the Atlantic coast and have seen quite a few Manatees in the intracoastal waterway while fishing and boating, often times VERY up-close. Such gentle creatures they are--- while not particularly attractive, they do have their own beauty. It's a dman shame that one day we might have to permanently say goodbye to the species, simply due to the fact that some people simply don't care. :( This picture has nearly brought tears to my eyes, because I am very much an admirer of God's incredible creations in nature. Wonderful picture, beautifully executed. :)
