Description

*Hear the sound of fleeting fears... hear the moving of ghostly messengers of our secreted lies that sneak up and creak like poisons, like misty blurs of darkened souls... In a world that betrays, in a world that we betray, there's someone who can face all the most miserable facts with lucid mind with clear eye with clean voice to shout it loud. He hears the silent dripping of our frajility, he messes our hearts with grotesque imagining, he puts a mirror out, and faceless demons appear to recall us things we cannot bear brand new bramble of dangerous connections we run out from, cos in there they stay our limits and illusions to stay leaden from, but safe. There is a Knight that comes by ground, with immense brain he knives us out; there is a Knight whose inner dreams are as vivid though than his sinister screams. In the logic he dwells, and if he's torn us out is just because there's something we're afraid to challenge our spirit with and up. With lucid mind with clear eye with clean voice... please never restraint your horizons and always keep being this renewing force for helping that searchin we should never turn down.* ------------------ pencil 2b, no postwork, borders cropped for scan size, real dimensions 25 per 35 cm. ----------------- so this is for you all my third Knight, Rik, aka syndroid.I could write a book on him as his personality is the most fascinating combination of intelligence and artistic skill and human sensitivity I have got to meet here. I am rarely in admire of people's intelligence, certainly almost never the way I admire his intelligence. Many think that art is neessarily something connected with impressions, expressions fugacious and "feelings" but the mere existence of people like Leonardo tells us much of the greatest ever art has to do with intelligence as much as sensitivity. Rik has the mind of the scientist and he sees art like society's painting of a state of living. I started to love his work since he came, because he started with my prediliged form of art, penciling. And he does it way better than I do. Then he moved towards different realms. In his art and in his writing, he puts seeds of controversy that are never just to mess out. They are messages, they are inputs for wakin up sleeping minds. He's like Goya. In demons he shows the sleeping of the Reason. In ghosts he portrays what we are and we shouldn't be,what we aren't that we might be. He's sort of.. Illuminist in a way. And I wish all of you would try to know him before judging his works too quickly, in one way or another. His works are not "dark by clich

Holy shite Meli, your talent exceeds itself with each upload jaw still hanging. Thank you for opening my eyes to Rik's view of the world. He never fails to stir something forgotton, or unknown, within and challenges the viewer's beliefs to the deepest level. There is no truer definition of 'Art' as any image that can achieve such heights. That goes for this image too, as it speaks so much to me, as your incredibly sensative portraits always do. Thank you so much for creating this my Angel hugest hugs & love.

You are an angel Meli, not only the kindest of angels to your friends, but also one who want to open our eyes to what is important in life and art. Your wonderful portrait of Rik with it's symbolic creature, and your words acts as an appeal to go beyond the comfortable surface and view our own monsters and those of our society. Masterwork Meli!!!

Excellent drawing Meli. I am also very impressed with your words. English is not your language but you have mastered it well. You are an excellent writer. I am glad you chose Syndroid as one of your Knights. He is one of my favourites as well.

i like the image, the left side seems to flatten out though, the outline might have something to do with that. it is sort of a halo around his head that is very static, like his head is up against a wall, and is very thin. I don't know, perhaps just letting the lighter background value bleed into the light values of the hair and neck would better describe that space, and letting the value define the edge instead of an outline. Its just a thought. I like the drawing. Later later.

I never viewed my images as "dark images" actually, but in retrospect you might call em that. Mostly I just try to combine satire, and cynism. Satire is just a wonderful tool to portray an opinion in an unexpected way. Cynism allows me to leave a deeper message. I have noticed people are never sure whether or not I always mean what I say. Well, it's not my opinion that counts, it's the message itself. I do not always support the statements, by approaching matters from the other side you might re-evaluate your own opinions. I told you before how I felt about the portrait (smudge smudge, lol).

You as good a writer as you are a sketch artist

In Rik I see someone who really doesn't care whether people agree with him or not, rather his ultimate goal is to make people consider: if they stop for a moment and do just that, then he's succeeded, and their ultimate opinion is secondary. I sometimes wish I could think with a purity like that, but hell, emotion tends to get in the way LOL :-D Great work again Meli, love the dozen-eyed puppet too... see you in a week or so!!! hugs

well i take a bow at your skill with a pencil, i can never get the hang of drawing 1 line when i can do TEN lines...so the product of my 10 liner's is a page that looks the be attacked by rogue pencils, but this sketch, this sketch is great, the pencil strokes are a so accurate and neat i would think you are a female leonardo da vinci, you let yourself down because you do mix technique and emotion perfectly and i am reambling and soon i'll stop making sense so i'll leave you with a smile upon my face ste the smiling

i totally agree with you, Syndroid is one to make you think as well as admire his artistic talent... engages the brain, connects intelligence... as you have portrayed him here with the 12 eyed demon, an interesting analogy!... once again you have chosen well meli my dear & your own talent & creativity shines through :] hugz
