Description

This is my first 'finished work' using Terragen as a basis for the landscape. The postwork was done with PS7. Rendering of the original master image took just under 2 days (P4 2.8Ghz, 1 Gig Rimm PC1066 mem) and the Photoshop 7 post work was a total of 17 hours. I've also entered this into the 'October 2003 Natural monument' Terragen forum competition. Its my first ever work with terragen and as i'm a very new member its my introduction work for you the community to enjoy. I hope you like it.

Thanks for the comments everyone. grouzni, this image in particular is only a fraction of the size of the original image. The original render was far far bigger. I wanted to render big because in the past i've printed poster sized images of other non-terragen artworks ive done for myself and others. It took a total of 1 day and 22 hours to complete the render. This image i put up here is a resized version.

Phenomenal first image! You have obviously done landscapes in other programs.

Thanks for the comment PatGoltz. I've actually never used any programs to 'generate terrains' as such. I stumbled upon this program they call 'Terragen' and basically fiddled with settings for a day. I didn't have a clue what most of the settings were for but i finally became a little used to some of them. I think something that shines through in this image is that i used to paint watercolours and oils a few years back but i gave that up and became a Photoshop user. After a lot of years transfering my skills over from brushes to a tablet, pen & and several photoshop releases I am almost able to say that i have total freedom with digital creativity with photoshop. If you seen the original render of this image you'd see that it looks pretty much nothing like this final brushed image. Infact i mainly used the original render only as a guideline for composition and lighting on a pleasant looking part of a terrain i made in Terragen. I had fun doing this but i'm not sure if i can call the original render art. Afterall it was done solely by a computer and i cannot say that me setting values in a program is art. I think this is why you can see so much PS brushing in this. I wanted to put my mark on it and make it into art and not just 'Another Render'. Thanks for the comments though they are greatly appreciated :)
